FontShop is pleased to be a global reseller of Linotype’s Platinum Collection. The new series is a selection of classic typefaces from the Linotype Library optimized for modern use. The new typeface families have large sets of harmonious weights. Some have new italic weights and often come complete with small caps and old style figures.

The number of foundries in the FontShop roster is growing steadily. Spotlighting lesser-known libraries will build appreciation for their diversity and the quality of their offerings.

The right typeface reinforces the atmosÂphere or adds something unexpected and fresh, while an ill chosen one can seriously spoil the viewing experience and reduce a potenÂtially good poster to a design misfire.

For this month’s picks Stephen Coles thought he’d call out some faces that have been around for a while but are rarely seen in public. Their scarcity has nothing to do with their quality. These are all fine, usable fonts, with the added bonus that they are not in danger of oversaturating the design landscape anytime soon.
