FontShop is pleased to be a global reseller of Linotype’s Platinum Collection. The new series is a selection of classic typefaces from the Linotype Library optimized for modern use. In close cooperation with the original type designers, Linotype reworked and expanded typeface families to make them both technologically and aesthetically up to date. The new typeface families have large sets of harmonious weights. Some have new italic weights and often come complete with small caps and old style figures.

The defacto face for wayfinding and information design is now available with OpenType features and a new extra light weight.

Sabon Next
Jean François Porchez’s revival of the timeless Sabonâ„¢ with more weights, small caps, old style figures, and OpenType features. 47 carefully digitized styles.

Trade Gothic Next
Akira Kobayashi retooled the classic but convoluted Trade Gothic from the ground up. The family is now an even more versatile workhorse with real heavy weights, true italics, and all new Compressed variants. The Regular weight is now adequately robust for text setting.

Optima nova
A complete redesign of the Hermann Zapf classic, including small caps, old style figures, new italic and condensed weights. Also new: Optimaâ„¢ nova Titling with capital letters, decorative letter combinations, and ligatures.

Palatino nova
At last there is a Palatino for the digital age, but true to the calligraphic intention of Hermann Zapf’s original. Plus, a new Aldus for text setting.

Eurostile Next
Redrawn by Akira Kobayashi, correcting inconsistencies and expanding the family.

Avenir Next
Completely reworked, newly designed in regular, regular italic, condensed and condensed italic, each containing 6 weights from Ultralight to Heavy.

Linotype Univers
A completey reworked version of the original Univers typeface family designed by Adrian Frutiger forty years ago. 59 weights plus four monospaced fonts.

Typophile Film Festival 5 Titles

The 5th Typophile Film Festival premiered one month ago at Design à Trois, a three night event exploring rock poster design, book cover design, and type design, organised by Portland AIGA.
