Founded in 2010, the German type foundry Hoftype develops new typefaces for professional applications and contemporary interpretations of classical models. Drawing on many years of experience in type design, Dieter Hofrichter creates versatile, quality faces for today’s audience, marrying style consciousness with a thorough knowledge of type history. |

With Cala, Dieter Hofrichter revisits Venetian Renaissance types, reimagining their seminal character shapes from a contemporary point of view. This results in a confident text face with balanced proportions and a flowing rhythm. Energetic italics provide the perfect contrast for the Roman weights. Cala holds up very well in small sizes. In display sizes the design reveals its delicately curved stems and friendly rounded corners. |

Impara is a lively sans with a distinctly humanistic appearance. Its letter forms are a synthesis of linear coolness and classic elegance. Subtly contrasted strokes and curved spurs set it apart from traditional sans serifs. With its large x-height and open counters it is an ideal choice for informational text applications. Impara comes in 5 weights plus matching italics. Like all Hoftype families, it has a complete character set for maximum versatility. |

More fluid and less cold than most slab serifs, Cassia marries impetuosity with vitality. Instead of the typical ball terminals, this dynamic Egyptienne has gently bulging stroke endings, which, combined with sensuous curves, lend the face individuality and charm. Dazzling in display sizes, it works surprisingly well even in the smallest sizes, thanks to its straightforward letter forms. |

Adios ScriptDesigned by Alejandro Paul Romantic and highly decorative, Adios Script is one of Alejandro Paul’s most elaborate and technically refined faces to date. Inspired by designs in “how-to” commercial lettering guides of the 1940s, it includes hundreds of ornate swash letter forms for creating resplendent word images. |

Filmotype KittenDesigned by Alejandro Paul Filmotype Kitten was a natural fit to its restorer, Alejandro Paul. The breadth of his work in the genre of informal brush scripts leaves it without peers. The face’s own novel design and expert recomposition leave us a reversed stress script with effortless strokes so fashionable they conjure memories of satin gowns in boutique storefronts. |

H15 PackageDesigned by Stefan Gandl, Benjamin Ganz NeubauLaden’s new collection of grotesques, the H15 Package, expands on European industrial-era lettering styles. The letterforms’ rectilinear construction and wide stance feel solid and cool. The package includes three monospaced variants. |

NBTypewriter-R 35-75Designed by Stefan Gandl, Akane Sakai NBTypewriter-R explores a similar feel in a monospaced rounded slab. The severity of its straight lines and flattened curves are subtly softened here, both in form and tone. |

G-Type republishedMost fonts in the G-Type collection have now been updated to the OpenType format. Nick Cooke used the opportunity to extend character sets, tweak the kerning, and modify a letter or two along the way. |
Rosetta files improvedSergei Egorov’s Neacademia has undergone minor refinements to its Cyrillic letter shapes, improving its readability. Small caps and small cap figures have been added to the Roman and Cyrillic. |
Beatty fonts in OT formatThe typefaces in the Beatty Collection have been updated from their previous legacy formats to OpenType. The new fonts install across platforms and take advantage of a number of OpenType features, like small caps. |
