Dynascript

Designed by Michael Doret
Published by Alphabet Soup

Michael Doret’s Dynascript gives us a view of the modern futuristic wonder that awaits as seen from, say, 1940. But the finished face is a fresh, original hybrid. Its casual, familiar brush script aesthetic is countered with an unmistakably top-heavy stroke that proudly conveys a sense of otherness. Dynascript supports Latin-based languages, including the Central European ones, and the script connects or detaches as specified, using OpenType stylistic sets.

New ParaType fonts: Quartal, Orbi Sans Multilingual, Milanette

Quartal

Quartal

Designed by Oleg Karpinsky
Published by ParaType

Oleg Karpinsky’s Quartal is a playful grotesque full of active curves and casual gestures. Its monolinear stroke, small apertures, unexpected open counters, and the careful clipping of its terminal angles make the face memorable and fun. Be sure to peruse its 13 additional extended weights. Quartal sets well at display sizes.

Orbi Sans Multilingual

Orbi Sans pursues the humanist sans in a traditional manner. Subtle stress and a gentle shift of axis distinguish the face, while its structure is carefully familiar. Orbi Sans’s tight fit makes it ideal for larger settings, and its glyph set also includes Cyrillic.

Milanette

Milanette

Designed by Lyudmila Mikhailova
Published by ParaType

In Milanette, designer Lyudmila Mikhailova keeps the contrast casually loose. Its 72 flourishes complement gothics or pair well with scripts of similar contrast, such as Nick Cooke’s Olicana, Stephen Rapp’s Chai Tea, or nearly any member of Alejandro Paul’s recently updated Bluemlein Collection.

New Schiavi Design fonts: Siruca, Siruca Pictograms

Siruca & Siruca Pictograms

Designed by Fabrizio Schiavi
Published by Schiavi Design

The “cuts” in unexpected places and the rounded ends make Siruca stand out against other stencil sans serifs. Designed for low-budget signage projects, Siruca’s glyphs can be used to create traditional stencils, or can easily be translated into neon signs. Using the OpenType feature Discretionary Ligatures in the pictogram font enables you to create icons simply by typing the corresponding word.

New ReType font: Winco

Winco

Designed by Ramiro Espinoza
Published by ReType

Spirited and lively, this humanist sans serif combines fluid curves with angular details that help define its unique personality. The flared stems add a touch of elegance, while the large x-height ensures perfect legibility in smaller text sizes. An alternate single-story ‘a’ and ‘g’ lend a whiff of surprise, making Winco an exquisite choice for children’s literature and school books.

New Canada Type font: Paganini

Paganini

Designed by Alessandro Butti, Patrick Griffin, Kevin King
Published by Canada Type

Paganini is based on a 1928 design by Alessandro Butti, originally released by the Nebiolo foundry. In typical Italian artistic fashion, it's a superb text face with enough ornamental details to shine in display uses as well. This digital expansion includes small caps, plenty of alternate forms, and a seductive Open variant.
