New Letters from Sweden fonts: Trim Complete & Web
Trim

For this “interrupted letter” Göran Söderström found inspiration in the typography of Danish architect, printer and designer Knud V. Engelhardt (1882–1931). Knud’s way of trimming diagonal stems already gave Font Bureau’s Skilt Gothic its distinct flavor. Göran took this concept to a whole new level by trimming not only the diagonals, but all possible letters. The result is a surprising sans in seven upright weights. Some are fat, some are skinny and some are, as the Swedish might say, just lagom.

New Hiba Studio fonts: Basim Marah, HS Almohandis, HS Future Sans

Basim Marah

Designed by Hasan Abu Afash, Basim Al Mahdi

Basim Marah captures the flowing strokes of freestyle calligraphy. With its smooth shapes and flared line endings, this Arabic display face is well suited for titles and graphic projects. It supports Arabic, Persian and Urdu.

HS Almohandis

Designed by Hasan Abu Afash
Published by Hiba Studio

Originally created for use by a technical and engineering company, HS Almohandis is based on the simple lines of modern and simplified Kufi calligraphy. Its characters follow a unique oval shape, resulting in a geometric and clear design. Thanks to its narrow features this Arabic display face is a perfect fit for book titles and design projects demanding a contemporary, streamlined look. It supports Arabic, Persian and Urdu.

HS Future Sans

Designed by Hasan Abu Afash, Abdulsamie Rajab Salem
Published by Hiba Studio

HS Future is keeping up with the Ahmeds. (That’s pretty much Arabic for “the Joneses.”) Hence the addition of HS Future Sans, the traditional Arabic family’s sans serif version. With simplified straight and curved strokes and serif-like endings removed, HS Future Sans offers more design options for type users, securing the Future family’s future as an adaptable type collection for contemporary publishing and advertising.

New Sudtipos font: Storefront

Storefront

Designed by Alejandro Paul
Published by Sudtipos

Alejandro Paul began Storefront from a study of an old Alf Becker lettering specimen and let it wildly loose from there. It’s a relaxed, fun face steeped in the tradition of the prolific and talented American sign painters of the 1920s and 30s and influenced by supermarket signs. Scriptmaster Paul adds his usual plethora of alternates and swashes in a continued quest to give typesetting that ever-elusive handmade impression. Storefront includes over a thousand glyphs for your branding, packaging, and sign making pleasure.

Typofonderie

Ramiro Espinoza’s Krul draws from sign painter Jan Willem Joseph Visser’s curly letter style, developed in Amsterdam in the late 1940s. Krul’s forms are painstakingly faithful to the style’s roots yet easy to typeset. Krul includes several alternate letterforms of nearly every character, to be chosen as needed or set automatically via OpenType.

Get Krul at 20% off through June 11.

Atlas Font Foundry, previously known as Büro Dunst, continues to create new original types for text and display. To celebrate the Atlas Font Foundry label, we’re making a big deal of their latest release. Further expanding Christoph Dunst’s Novel Superfamily is the softened Novel Sans Rounded.

Novel Sans Rounded is 50% off through June 30.

FontFont Collection Tier

Recently on the blog we’ve highlighted members of FontFont’s Collection Tier. These lesser-known and affordably priced font families and sets represent breakout work of now-popular designers, and in many cases push the boundaries of what we previously thought possible with type.
