Tony de Marco Reveals An Ad-less São Paulo

São Paulo No Logo

Font 005 Web ExtraIn Font 006, Tony de Marco clears away the clutter to reveal São Paulo’s ban on advertising. His photographs tell the story of what remained earlier this year when Brazil’s economic capital enacted new “clean city” legislation that outlawed all forms of outdoor advertising.

Join Us at TypeCon2007 in Seattle

TypeCon2007

This August 1–5 we’ll be in Seattle for TypeCon, the only North American conference dedicated to typography, where FontShop is a proud sponsor of the Typophile Film Fest, an annual celebration of type in motion.

Please join us. Registration is still open. TypeCon is always an enjoyable and enlightening experience, and surprisingly inexpensive. Highlights of this year’s conference include Matthew Carter, Robert Bringhurst, Roger Black, Modern Dog, Marian Bantjes (a Font magazine contributor), and a showing of Helvetica, the movie.

2007 FontShop Calendar: July

July Featuring ARS Twenty and ARS Region

Angus R. Shamal designed our July 2007 Calendar with two of his typefaces: ARS Region, the sum of everything he’s “always liked and appreciated in a workhorse sans serif”; and ARS Twenty, a monospaced font built on a 4 x 5 grid. Established in 1994, Shamal’s ARS Type is an independent studio based in Amsterdam.
