Super Families
The character of Versa, designed by Peter Verheul, can be best described by thinking of Hermann Zapf's Optima, then of Albertus, the type design by Berthold Wolpe. Then, try to think of a third design that would complete or continue this line of humane, charming, but also strong and personally flavoured type designs. Looking closely at Versa there is no doubt that it is a good candidate to make this line complete. But of course, there is more to Versa than this.
Versa is available in serif and sans versions. All Versa fonts have condensed versions: roman, italic, and small capitals. This turns Versa into a super-family, which is extremely suitable for texts in small sizes. At the same time, Versa will perform very well in large sizes, due its particular but charming character.
Versa fonts can be purchased individually, but the packages on this page offer the best value and performance. Discounted packages containing complimentary fonts ensure you get all the styles you need for professional typography.
While TrueType and PostScript formats are still available, we recommend the newer OpenType fonts to most customers as they offer the most versatility and ease-of-use, as well as compatibility with modern design applications. OpenType Pro fonts offer additional ligatures, fractions, superiors, inferiors, denominators and additional small capital-height punctuation. OpenType Pro fonts support the Latin Extended 1 character set, which is a valuable tool for composing multilingual text.
