Critzla

Critzla is a self-taught digital designer. Before the wall fell he worked as an sign and poster painter in East Germany before he moved to Berlin. In 1994, he created the first 12 issues of the Berlin club-scene magazine Flyer, followed by any number of record sleeves, flyers and posters for the club and music biz. He designed the typeface Localizer for the techno-book of the same name and the well known TradeMarker. Both have been released in the FontFont library. Since late 1999, he has taught digital type design at a private design academy in Berlin. In late 1999, he founded Pfadfinderei, an internationally operating design bureau. From motion design productions to the visualisation of events, Pfadfinderei offers a range of services that crosses the boarders between functional design demands and advanced multimedia art. Besides production, live visualisation of music is Pfadfinderei members’ biggest passion. Having started as VJs in various clubs they are nowadays planning, creating and performing visual installations in Germany and abroad. With Martin Aleith together, he designed a bunch of fonts, released by several foundries. Other fonts published to date: FF TradeMarker, FF Localizer, FF Localizer Clones, FF Magda Clean (with Henning Krause), LT DownTown, LT Mindline, LT GoTekk, Franz Jäger, Flomaster, Starlet/Star.
