Jean-François Porchez

Jean-François Porchez (1964), type designer, is a two-time winner of the Morisawa International Type Design Award with FF Angie and Apolline (1990, 1993). He was also the designer responsible for the new typeface for Le Monde, one of France’s leading national newspapers (1995). He designed Parisine for the Paris Metro signage system, and Anisette, an all-caps face created in the spirit of Cassandre & French poster designers in the 1930s. Porchez received his graduate education at the Atelier National de Création Typographique (1991). After receiving his degree, he worked for three years as type director at the Paris-based Dragon Rouge, a major firm that specializes in corporate identity and packaging. He is presently working at home in the Paris suburb of Malakoff. He is a part-time typography teacher and journalist.
