Kris Sowersby

Kris Sowersby (BCGD) graduated in two-thousand-and-something from the Wanganui School of Design. After brief employment as a signwriter and graphic designer, he has been self-employed since 2005 as Director of Typography for KLIM Typographic Design and The Letterheads Ltd. These two entities represent the two sides to his work: typeface design (KLIM) and graphic design (The Letterheads). Both disciplines live in complete symbiosis with one another, the micro surgery of type design informing the macro arrangements of graphic design and vice versa. Essentially one of the only competent typeface designers working in New Zealand, Sowersby’s reputation for typeface design has led to him working with, and for, contemporary typographic luminaries such as Christian Schwartz, Erik Spiekermann, Chester Jenkins, House Industries, DNA Design and Pentagram.
