Kris Sowersby

2003 machte Kris Sowersby seinen Abschluss an der Wanganui School of Design. Nach kurzer Beschäftigung als Grafiker gründete er 2005 die Klim Type Foundry, die aktuell ihren Sitz in Wellington, Neuseeland, hat. Seine erste Handelschrift, Feijoa, kam 2007 auf den internationalen Markt. Sein zweiter Release trug ihm 2008 ein Certificate of Excellence des Type Designers Club, New York, ein. Er erhielt zwei weitere Certificates of Excellence (für Serrano und Hardys) und realisierte mehrere Haus- und Handelschriften, u.a. FF Meta Serif, die Serifenschwester der bekannten FF Meta. Sowersbys Renommee als Schriftentwerfer ermöglichte ihm Projekte für und mit berühmten Typografen unserer Zeit, nicht zuletzt Christian Schwartz, Erik Spiekermann, Chester Jenkins, House Industries, DNA Design und Pentagram. Sowersbys Schriften verbinden historische Kenntnis mit modernem Handwerk und Design. Die Klim Type Foundry verkauft seine Schriften exklusiv über Village.
