Pepe Gimeno

Pepe Gimeno was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1951. From 1970 to 1986 he worked in graphic communication, carrying out projects involving corporate graphic identities, signage, design of publications and typographic design. He has been President of the Association of Designers of the Valencian Community and imparted courses of graphic design at the C.E.U. San Pablo University, Valencia. He is a member of the Type Directors Club of New York. In 1999, Experimenta Ediciones de Diseño published the monographic work “Pepe Gimeno. 25 años de Diseño Gráfico”. In 2001 he won a restricted competition for the design of the image for Spain's Presidency of the European Union in 2002. In 2001 he designed FF Pepe, awarded with the Certificate of Excellence in Typographic Design, 2001 from the Type Directors Club of New York. In 2002 he published, together with La Imprenta Comunicación Gráfica, the book “Cali Typography?”. The IVAM, Valencian Institute of Modern Art, presented an exhibition of his project “Grafía callada” (Hushed Writing) in June 2004.
