1. This license covers one person: you, the licensee. Below, I’ll shorten this to “you,” and refer to the fonts shipped with this license as the “licensed fonts.”

2. I, Matthew Butterick (d/b/a MB Type), own the licensed fonts. I reserve all rights that I have not granted you in this license.

3. This license is non-exclusive and non-transferable.

4. This license takes effect when you install the licensed fonts. It applies to the licensed fonts and any free updates to those fonts.

5. Subject to the limitations below, you can install and use the licensed fonts on any computers, or accounts on multi-user computers, dedicated exclusively to you.

6. You can embed the licensed fonts only as follows:

6.1. Read-only embedding is allowed (e.g., PDFs).

6.2. Editable embedding is allowed for documents that will be shared with fewer than 20 people.

6.3. Website embedding is allowed on up to three domains that you own, that together serve fewer than 100,000 page views per month.

7. You can modify the licensed fonts, except for my copyright and trademark notices. You can install and use these modified fonts under the same terms as the licensed fonts.

8. No technical support is offered for licensed fonts that have been embedded or modified, nor for the TrueType versions of the licensed fonts.

9. This license is valid until terminated. If your license is terminated, you must delete all copies you’ve made of the licensed fonts, including copies embedded in your documents. At my request, you must certify that you have done so.

9.1. You can terminate this license by sending me notice. If you terminate within 30 days of your initial order, I’ll refund your license fee.

9.2. If you breach this license, it will automatically terminate.

9.3. If you have unusual or excessive technicalsupport needs, I can terminate your license by refunding your license fee.

10. None of the descriptions of the licensed fonts are legal advice. If you’re using the licensed fonts in legal documents, you’re responsible for complying with document-formatting requirements (e.g., court rules).

11. This license is governed by California law. Courts in Los Angeles County, California have exclusive jurisdiction over claims arising under this license.

12. important! The licensed fonts are offered to you on an “as is” basis. You assume the entire risk of the quality and performance of the licensed fonts. You waive both the implied warranty of fitness and the implied warranty against infringement of third-party rights.

13. also important! My liability to you for costs, damages, or other losses arising from your use of the licensed fonts—including third-party claims against you—is limited to a refund of your license fee.

14. If an organization bought this license for you, the following terms also apply, and supersede conflicting terms elsewhere in this license:

14.1. An “organization” is an entity, or logical subdivision of an entity, with fewer than 500 full-time employees.

14.2. Everyone in the organization who regularly edits documents that use the licensed fonts needs a separate license.

14.3. You can use the licensed fonts only for projects on behalf of the organization.

14.4. If you stop working for the organization, you can transfer this license to another person within the organization.

14.5. Website embedding is allowed on up to three domains that the organization owns, and that together serve fewer than 100,000 page views per month. Paragraph 6.3 does not apply.

14.6. You can make copies of modified fonts for others in the organization who also have a license to use the licensed fonts.

15. This is the whole license. If part of the license turns out to be unenforceable, the rest will remain. The license can be changed only if we both agree in writing.
