August 25, 2016 by
David Sudweeks
David Sudweeks

David Sudweeks interviews Michael Hochleitner, co-founder of the Austrian graphic and type design studio Typejockeys on the kind of work they do, the role of mentor Martin Tiefenthaler in the creation of an Austrian type scene, and what the name Typejockeys means.

Michael Hochleitner pursued graphic design in school, and received a Master of Arts degree in typeface design from the University of Reading. While at Reading, he began work on what would become his first release, Ingeborg. In the interview Michael discusses how Typejockeys was formed in 2008 by the reunion of himself, Anna Fahrmaier, and Thomas Gabriel, (Thomas now runs an independent studio). Learn more about Typejockeys here on its foundry page or by visiting typejockeys.com.
