FontExplorer® X Pro 6 is the latest version of Monotype’s state-of-the-art font management solution. Well-known for its intuitive, contemporary user interface that presents type in an attractive manner, this product makes finding type fun and easy. The app’s thorough feature set includes numerous tools for font discovery and organization as well as activation controls that ensure fonts are active only when needed. This speeds the creative workflow by minimizing the list of options in font menus to just the essentials while also helping your machine to run efficiently.
FontExplorer X Pro 6 is available for the Mac® OS X platform from fontexplorerx.com. The product is available for €89/$99 to new customers. Users of previous versions can upgrade their software license for €45/$49. Users who purchased version 5.x on May 15, 2016, or later will receive a free software license upgrade to version 6.

FontExplorer X Pro version 6 is ready for macOS 10.12
Unicode® 9 Support: Support for the Unicode 9 Standard which provides access to additional emoji characters as well as additional glyphs for written languages.
New Plug-Ins: Updated plug-ins support auto-activation of fonts for the new QuarkXPress 2016 and the Adobe® CC 2015.x applications. Auto-activation allows the application to activate a missing font when a document is opened. This saves you the time of locating and activating the font file while reducing the number of active fonts on your system.
Automatic backup: When you upgrade to FontExplorer X Pro version 6, an automatic backup of your local font database will be created.
Enhanced Font Classification with new user interface and sub-categories to help you find just the right font more quickly. The new classifications are supported by smart set filters and the font list search feature. Automatically classify fonts that are available in the Monotype libraries (an internet connection is required), manually classify fonts or create your own custom classifications. Classifications that were applied/created with previous versions of FontExplorer X Pro will be available after an upgrade
Added Japanese as a user interface language which will automatically be set if your OS language is Japanese.
Localised font information (if available in a font) can be shown for the following languages:
Arabic, Basque, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish.
The setting can be turned on in the “General” panel of the FontExplorer X Pro Preferences and the language shown will be determined by the “Preferred language” setting of your OS
“Detect Fonts in Documents” has been enhanced to support an additional 19 document types:

Enhancements to the Web Preview include the ability to edit text of elements and change the user agent to simulate various operating systems and browsers
Enhanced Font Tile View lets you set the text to the first two letters of the font name, view detailed font information on mouse over, add rounded corners, foreground and background color and even gradually change the background color between the first and last tile by selecting a “blend to” color
In addition to exporting font information from the font list as text, it can now be exported from the local or server font list as a CSV document with options for defining the separator and the text encoding
Added menu item “New Set from Selection” to the context menu in the font list
Added a new preference setting to the “Import” panel which permits the user to define whether or not a new set is created when importing fonts into FontExplorer X Pro
Added the ability to sort by path name in the Conflicts panel
The source list can now be expanded to a greater width to aid in viewing long set and folder names or deeply nested folders and sets
Growl notification system has been replaced by OS notifications
FontExplorer X Server 3 New Features and Changes
Introducing the enhanced font classification feature now also for Server Fonts. Administrators can classify server fonts using the “Auto Classify Fonts” feature, apply manual classifications and create custom classifications in the “Server Settings” panel. In the “Custom Font Classification” section, click on the “+” symbol to add a new custom font classification and provide a tooltip if desired. The tooltip will be viewable to all users when they hover with the mouse over the classification in the summary panel of the Font Information dialog. Administrator and user Server Smart Sets can be used to group fonts by their classification. Locally classified fonts will maintain their classifications when importing them into the server
Also introducing Labels, Rating and Comments for Server Fonts. Administrators can assign a Label, Rating and/or Comment to Server Fonts which all users will be able to view and create server smart sets to group fonts based on their Label, Rating or Comment. These can also be displayed in the font list and shown in the small information panel located in the lower left corner of the main window
A new feature enables Administrators to send messages or e-mails to FontExplorer X Server users directly from the statistics panel. Select a user and right-click to access the “Send e-mail” and “Send message” options from the context menu. Users must be logged into the server in order to receive messages
Administrators can send a notification to users to reload the source list when new fonts or sets are made available. With the server, a server folder or a server set selected, right-click and select the menu item “Notify clients to reload sources”

Changes in the Statistics panel include: additional columns to show the System Version, Client version, e-mail address of user. When exporting data from Statistics it is now possible to select the separator and the file encoding
The License Information and Modify License Information dialogs have been modified to allow viewing longer text strings. Expanding the dialog results in expanded text fields which also show scrollbars when the text exceeds the visible area
Administrators can now apply a color label to Server Folders and Sets. This can be accessed via the “Properties” dialog. When the option “Label Color” is selected, clicking on the color field will produce the system color picker dialog. Here you can select your label color
