What sets TYPO SF apart from similar events is that its schedule boasts a high number of speakers you rarely can see in the United States (yet it also includes a fair share of local talent). This edition will give you the opportunity to attend presentations by international speakers like multi-awarded German new media designer Joachim Sauter; Lebanese Arabic and Legibility Specialist Dr. Nadine Chahine; Menno Cruijsen, design director at the Amsterdam-based design agency Lava; London-based graphic designer and founder of Type Tasting Sarah Hyndman, and more. National personalities include famed design writer and curator Ellen Lupton and the larger-than-life Chip Kidd. Even though TYPO has evolved beyond the scope of mere typography, typoholics and typophiles can also get their fix. Besides the aforementioned Sarah Hyndman and Nadine Chahine the line-up features type celebrities Sumner Stone and Tobias Frere-Jones amongst several typeface designers and type specialists.
If you procrastinated or were forgetful and you are now smashing your head into the wall out of regret for not registering – have no worries. I am giving away (2) two very-last-minute tickets for TYPO San Francisco, next week, to the first two people who add a comment to this post, explaining what their focus is in your life or work. When you’re done, tweet @fontshop and @typosf with a link to this post using the hashtag #myfocustypo15. And it gets even better: if you don’t win one of the two free tickets, I will also award (5) five half-price tickets for the conference to the runners-up, comments three through to seven.
* The first and second prize is a free ticket for the conference for two days, and the third to seventh prize are a 50% reduction off the full registration price for the conference. None of the prizes include travel nor accommodation, so please ensure that you are able to make and finance your own travel arrangements to San Francisco.
