For now, here’s what you can see for yourself:
The primary focus is on presenting the typefaces in a playful setting, making it fun to find and select them. We use webfonts wherever possible, to provide a wider range of attributes to test and assess.
The family pages are now at the heart of the next FontShop design. It consists of many amusing modules to play with. Still, it covers all facets and capabilities of each typeface, from a broad overview of each family down to the details of individual glyphs.
The foundry pages enable manufacturers to present their own brand through images and text. They also provide a transparent overview of each foundry’s products, showing their full range of designers and families. Foundries can promote their top fonts directly on the website.
The designer pages let type designers publish their personal profiles with style and elegance. They can upload portraits of themselves and their work, post their background information and showcase individual fonts.
The home page states the goals of the next FontShop as they evolve, and regularly ushers in new sets of featured content. Watch this space for upcoming interviews and blog posts.
Our aim is to create a design that answers questions before they even come up. This is why we’re already launching this framework of the next FontShop in its raw, unfinished state. It’s more than just a space for you to play around, explore, discover and revisit. It’s also a real live invitation for you to test drive, debate and engage. Read this journal to keep up with the site as it evolves.
We look forward to hearing your feedback!
