Guy Jeffrey “GJ” Nelson graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1992. His work has carried him to Amsterdam, Berlin, New York and San Francisco. GJ apprenticed with the Font Bureau in 1994, learning from the likes of Tobias Frere-Jones and David Berlow. He released his first retail fonts Providence and Providence Sans with FontShop International, and soon after released Interstate Pi and Tasse with Font Bureau, for whom he continues to act as a design and marketing consultant. GJ is Principal and Founder of GJ Nelson + Company, a boutique marketing and design studio located in the Greater Boston Area. Beyond his vocation, GJ is also an active volunteer and supporter of The Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy, the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus and Leake and Watts Services for Orphaned Children. GJ lives with his wife, Ha Nelson and son in Watertown, Massachusetts.
