Jonathan Hitchen was born in Sheffield UK and graduated from the Royal College of Art Illustration course in 1989. He has been involved in design education for over 20 years and is currently a senior lecturer in Graphic Design at Manchester School of Art. His research interests at the art school centre around generative drawing and the impact of digital technology on traditional media. In 2008 he was the graphic design consultant for "Le Corbusier – The Art of Architecture" at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool; he is currently working with the Manchester Modernist Society. In 1994 he helped to set up Beaufonts, a collaborative project formed during the DIY font frenzy in the wake of FUSE.
