Örjan Nordling (b. 1958) was trained at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and at the Basel School of Design. He is Creative Director and partner of design studio Familjen Pangea in Stockholm, founded in 1997. Nordling has designed Nordling BQ for Berthold AG, Berling Nova family for Linotype (with Fredrik Andersson) and custom typefaces for Dagens Nyheter and others. Nordling is a member of ATypI and the Stockholms Typographic Guild. In 2004, he received the Berling prize, inaugurated by the late Karl-Erik Forsberg. He got the European design award 2008 for the typeface Enighet (Unity, for the Swedish Trade Union Confederation) and the Red Dot Award 2010 for book and poster Heavy Brands. Over the years he designed several Swedish custom typefaces together with Göran Söderström, among them LO Unity, SEB Basic, ATG, and typefaces for ICA.
