Fakt Slab supports 108 different languages such as Spanish, English, Portuguese, German and French in Latin scripts. (Please note that not all languages are available for all formats.)
Fakt Slab is designed by Thomas Thiemich, and is his third typeface for OurType, following Alto and Fakt. Fakt Slab joins OurType's already distinguished slab serif collection that also includes Fresco Informal, Parry, Sansa Slab and Stan.
Fakt Slab is designed to complement Fakt, its sanserif counterpart. The two font families share the same proportions, weights and widths and so work beautifully together. But Fakt Slab also performs superbly on its own. Well built and balanced, vigorous and full-blooded, the design continues in the tradition of fully planned slab serifs such as Memphis, Beton and Karnack, created in the inter-war years. Updating the tradition, Fakt Slab offers a 'core' design partnered with a thoroughly resolved italic. A wide variety of stylistic alternates are also incorporated into each font. Ranging from precise and geometric to gentler and more humanistic, these alternates enable users to customise word-images and refine texts to suit typographic preferences. Together, Fakt Slab's features make it a powerful and sophisticated tool for today's design requirements.
Fakt Slab consists of ten weights of roman and italic designs, built around three widths. Like Fakt, the Fakt Slab family has an extended range of thin weights, including the ethereal 'Air'. The Pro character set includes small caps, stylistic alternates and a basic set of figures. Additional features include small cap, lining and old style figures (each in tabular and proportional widths); fractions; comprehensive superiors, inferiors, numerators and denominators; case sensitive punctuation sets; mathematical and monetary symbols; arrows; standard and discretionary ligatures (with their stylistic alternates); and a complete range of accents for all Western, Central and East European languages based on the Latin script.
