FF Zine Slab Display supports up to 76 different languages such as Spanish, English, Portuguese, German, French, Turkish, Italian, Polish, Kurdish (Latin), Romanian, Dutch, Hungarian, Serbian (Latin), Kazakh (Latin), Czech, Swedish, Belarusian (Latin), Croatian, Finnish, Slovak, Danish, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovenian, Irish, Estonian, Basque, Icelandic, and Luxembourgian in Latin and other scripts.

FF Zine is a fine example of Berlin-based designer Ole Schäfer’s logic. Art Directors often have trouble finding coordinated typefaces across several different styles. The design began with a related project. In 1996, Schäfer drew a two-weight headline face for Dresden’s Sächsische Zeitung newspaper. The brief called for a display system offering multiple “atmospheres.” The solution he came up with was a type system made of three different sub-families – Sans, Serif and Slab – each developed simultaneously, although the Serif variant served as the dominant style from which the other two evolved. All three sub-families come in five weights, each including a true italic. As the name indicates, FF Zine is optimized for use in editorial work, primarily magazine headlines and subheads.
