The whimsical gentlemen who populate Linotype Männeken, a symbol font from the Take Type 4 collection from Linotype all appear to be trying to go about their everyday activities. Occasionally, like almost all of us, they stumble into difficulties. If you are looking for a glyph displaying a man in a suit accidentally rolling down a hill, look no further! Even if your search less specific, Linotype Männeken offers a witty touch that can lend a breath of fresh air to almost any newsletter, flyer, or other communication project. Unlike many symbol fonts, Linotype Männeken¿s pictograms retain a touch of their creator¿s hand in their appearance. The characters seems to have been drawn with a fine layout marker. No cold, computer-generated icons are anywhere to be found here. German designer/illustrator Martina Thiesen designed Linotype Männeken in 2002. This pictographic family displays 104 uniquely drawn figures, in two separate typefaces, Linotype Männeken and Linotype Männeken. Männeken¿s pictograms work exceptionally well when paired with Martina Thiesen¿s other symbol and text faces.
