Newly released from fontpartners is Kobenhavn—a wide-set, occasionally-seriffed design made to offer a sense of Denmark’s sprawling capital city and visual culture. The family includes a set of pictograms useful for marking Copenhagen’s points of interest in maps, guides, signage, event posters, and the like. Ten styles in all, with full central-European language support.

The best things in life are furry

Approached in 2013 to design a new yearbook for Offenbach University of Art and Design, Marc Schütz searched for a native typeface, ultimately deciding on Kabel. Since the existing digitizations didn’t have the features the design required, Schütz started with Koch’s master drawings, carefully adapting the forms to work in a range of weights and at various sizes. Nine weights in all.
