Alessio Leonardi said: “I love the FF Letterine Archetipetti (little archetypes) and I think they love me too. I invented FF Letterine in order to be able to communicate with those tiny creatures. We send each other letters with the modem. They don’t have ISDN and neither do I. Archetipetti are really polite and politically correct, even if they sometimes don’t look so. FF Letterine Esagerate was not my work: the Archetipetti did it. They thought that sometimes you need to exaggerate things and feelings. And in this case you need exaggerated faces. FF Letterine Teatro (theater) is our favorite game. One day I will be Archetipetto, too.”

Providence was first drawn in 1987 to set lines in a comic book series – FF Providence Sans for the dialog, and its serif companion for running narrative. In 1994 the typefaces were revisited, adding weights and a set of dingbats, and named after the designer’s home town in Rhode Island, USA.

FF Info is named after its purpose: the transfer of information. Its clean lines make no fashion statements, nor do they attempt any technical wizardry. The typeface was initially intended for use on traffic signage, and other wayfinding systems in stations, on buildings, etc. Because space comes at a premium in such situations, FF Info Display is drawn narrow; It requires 15% less space than... FF Jambono is an informal script-derived sans family from Xavier Dupré. He explains, “I designed FF Tartine Script and FF Jambono in 2000–2001 when I worked as type designer in a packaging design agency in Paris. I just wanted to have a complete font up my sleeve for when I need to design a logo for someone. FF Jambono is a display type for packaging, but it can also be used in text, since it... Read More

“FF Kurt is from Berlin, that’s obvious”, Vivien Palloks begins, introducing her first published typeface. FF Kurt began as hand-cut stamp forms. The design was meant to represent an eclectic area of Berlin where all pieces are an original piece. So indeed is the typeface, each letter is an individual; together they form a harmonious whole.

FF Rattlescript is a script-style font family with a handwritten look available in a wide range of weights and styles. The typeface’s open and friendly appearance recommends it to use in an informal context where other handwritten faces may appear too structured or too illegible. Rattlescript is, for this style of typeface, remarkably legible and can be used equally well as a display face or as... Read More

Tekton font is based on the hand lettering of West Coast architect Frank Ching, who wrote out the text for his books. It is an Adobe Originals typeface designed by David Siegel in 1989. Tekton is ideal for architectural drawing/design software, to match the feel of the type with the designer´s plans, or to give the page an architectural or informal handwritten flavor. Tekton multiple master,... Read More

Cronos is the work of Robert Slimbach, a sans serif typeface family that embodies the warmth and readability of Oldstyle Roman typefaces. It derives much of its appearance from the calligraphically inspired type of the Italian Renaissance. Its almost handwritten appearance sets it apart from most other sans serif designs and makes it an effective choice for text composition. The Italic design... Read More

The type family FF Layout is intended to be used for planning complex layouts. It contains a block-letter, hand-written face FF Layout (4 weights: Regular, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic), FF Oxmox (Regular and Bold) where all letters are replaced with either x, m, or o, and the “greeked” text FF Tramline that displays the text as solid grey lines. While the comic-like FF Layout can be used well... Read More

Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger designed Escript as a handwriting typeface with fresh, lively forms. Each letter has a slightly different character, yet all fit well together and this lack of concrete rules gives the font a spontaneous feel. Escript is well suited to headlines, smaller texts, and initials when combined with constructed typefaces.

ITC Humana Sans font is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson, an extended and versatile font family with a large array of variations. Donaldson first created ITC Humana Script with a broad-tipped pen and then went on to design the corresponding roman. ITC Humana Sans is the perfect font for anything requiring both clarity and a touch of personality.

Graphite was designed by David Siegel, who began thinking about the typeface in 1982, looking for an architect´s handwriting with a "chiselled pencil" look. The handwriting of San Francisco architect Anthony Celis LaRosa became Siegel´s choice. With the assistance of David Berlow and Tom Rickner, Graphite was designed and released as a multiple master typeface with weight and width axes that... Read More

ITC Tempus is the work of British designer Phill Grimshaw. He claims that every calligrapher's aspiration is to draw perfect roman capitals with a pen, but admits that this is extremely difficult. For this typeface, Grimshaw used a fountain pen on cheap, porous paper and, of course, the ink bled. The resulting forms are classic but their rugged edges deviate from the perfection of roman...
