This November Slanted, the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe organize two one-day conferences on graphic design in Warsaw. All talks will be hosted on one of the two campuses on November 15th and 17th, 2016 at the occasion of the upcoming release of Slanted Magazine #28 “Warsaw”. We at FontShop gladly support the event as a partner.

To better understand the graphic design scene in Warsaw, the hosts invited speakers who specialize in a variety of fields, ranging from photography and illustration to research, publishing, curation and art. Piotr Rypson, deputy director at the National Museum Warsaw, Swiss photographer Nicolas Grospierre, graphic designer Marcin Nowicki, typographer Magdalena Frankowska and illustrator Jan Bajtlik will be speaking on both days—so if you can’t make it on the 15th, the program will be repeated on the 17th. At the end of each conference day, Rene Wawrzkiewicz is going to moderate a panel discussion with all speakers. Admission is free, but each date is limited to 500 participants, so be sure to sign up. Registration is necessary!

We’re very proud to announce that FontShop is joining in on this event as a supporting partner of Slanted. While we’ve always been dedicated to bringing designers together at conferences, we are also keen on involving design schools in these events and have done so in the past. This conference brings professional experience and education closer together.

Watch out for rare rub-off lettering sheets of Łukas Dziedzic’s FF Clan that will be given away during the conferences, reminiscent of a lettering technique that is probably best connected to the company Letraset, who produced such sheets for graphic designers well up to the 1980s.
