FF Amoeba supports up to 50 different languages such as Spanish, English, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Irish, Basque, Luxembourgian, and Icelandic in Latin and other scripts.

This typeface is a reaction against the geometrical brutality of many of today’s typefaces. Designer Peter Warren challenged traditional conventions of typeface design by adopting policies which included non-adherence to the baseline, the x-height, and the division between upper and lower case. As far as possible he retained his goal to give FF Amoeba no sharp corners or straight lines. Above all, he wanted FF Amoeba to be fun and pleasing to read. This linked in with one of the most important points of his personal thesis: that the aesthetic appeal of a typeface encourages its readability.
