Designer Dung van Meerbeeck’s series of digitized handwriting are named after the famous artists to whom each belongs. The typefaces in the “FF DuBrush” series are: FF DuChirico, FF DuDuchamp, FF DuGauguin, FF DuTurner, FF DuMathieu, and FF DuMifu. Mi Fu was a Chinese painter, poet, and calligrapher from the Song Dynasty. In painting he gained renown for his style of painting misty landscapes. Georges Mathieu (1921) was a French painter and was one of the founders of “lyric abstraction”. His paintings are created from dynamic movements generated by physical-psychic impulses. Joseph Turner (1775-1851) was an English painter and engraver. Full of vaporous atmosphere and pure light, his paintings had a strong influence on the Impressionist movement. Giorgio De Chirico (1888-1978) was an Italian painter. His “metaphysical” paintings marked the beginnings of Surrealism. Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968) was a French painter. He was also a poet and a sculptor. His paintings were Futuristic in style. Then his so-called “ready-made” objects (common objects presented as art) ushered in Dadaism. Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was a French painter. His “synthetic” paintings try do not attempt to depict reality, but rather the “distortion” of this reality.
